This policy explains what Gamigo collects about you, why, and what you can do about it. Gamigo is operated by [legal entity name], registered at [registered address], which is the data fiduciary for the information described here.
What we collect
What you give us
- Account details: name or handle, email address, phone number, password.
- Profile details: the games you play, your platforms, your skill level, what you want out of a session, your usual availability, and anything else you choose to add.
- Photographs and screenshots you upload, including images attached to community help posts.
- Messages and posts you write to other members.
- Identity documents, if and when you choose to complete verification.
- Payment details you give to our payment provider, if you use paid features.
What we collect as you use Gamigo
- Approximate location, used to find people, venues and events near you.
- Sessions you book, attend, cancel or rate.
- Device and log information: IP address, device type, browser, and the pages you open.
- Reports made about you, and reports you make about others.
Location, and what other members see
Your exact location is never shown to another member. Distance is.
We use your location to work out who and what is near you. Other members see an approximate distance, not an address and not a pin. A home address involved in a session is withheld until both sides have confirmed the session.
Your weekly availability is not published. Where a match explanation mentions overlapping hours, it describes the overlap, not your calendar.
How we use it
- To create and run your account.
- To match you with players, venues, communities and events, and to explain why a suggestion was made.
- To let you message other members and post in the community.
- To process payments, rewards and payouts where you use those features.
- To verify identity where you choose to complete verification, or where we are required to.
- To keep the platform safe: investigating reports, preventing fraud and abuse, and enforcing our terms.
- To send service messages about your account, bookings and security.
- To send marketing messages, only where you have opted in, and with an unsubscribe link every time.
- To meet legal and regulatory obligations.
What each kind of information is used for
- Account details – to create your account, sign you in, contact you about it, and recover it if you lose access.
- Profile details – to show you to other members and to work out who you would enjoy playing with.
- Approximate location – to rank people, venues and events by how far away they are.
- Availability – to find overlapping hours, and to explain a suggestion in terms of them.
- Session history and ratings – to build a reliability record other members can see, and to resolve disputes.
- Messages and posts – to deliver them, and to investigate reports about them.
- Identity documents – to verify who you are, only where you have chosen to verify or where we must.
- Payment information – to take payments and make payouts, handled by our payment provider.
- Device and log information – to keep the service secure, diagnose faults and detect abuse.
How matching works, and what it is not
Suggestions are produced by a set of rules applied to information you gave us: the games you play, what you want out of a session, when you are free, how you like to play, your platforms and how far away you are. Each suggestion can explain itself in those terms.
There is no profiling of you beyond that, no inference about your character, and no decision with a legal or similarly significant effect made automatically about you. Ranking is by fit for a purpose, not by popularity or activity.
What other members can see
- Your handle, profile photograph if you add one, and the profile details you chose to fill in.
- An approximate distance from them. Never an address, never coordinates, never a map pin.
- Overlapping availability inside a match explanation. Never your calendar.
- Your reliability record and ratings from completed sessions.
- Whether you have completed verification – but never the documents you verified with.
Blocking is mutual and takes effect immediately in both directions. A blocked member cannot find you, see your posts, or tell the difference between being blocked and your account not existing.
Messages and moderation
We do not read your messages routinely. We may access specific messages or posts where we are investigating a report, where we detect abuse or fraud, or where we are legally required to. Where we moderate content we hide it rather than delete it, and the person who posted it can still see it.
Marketing
We send marketing only to people who have opted in, and every message carries an unsubscribe link that works. Unsubscribing from marketing does not stop service messages about your account, your bookings or your security – those are part of the service and cannot be switched off while your account is open.
The basis we rely on
We process your information to provide the service you asked for, to meet our legal obligations, for our legitimate interests in keeping the platform safe and working, and – for optional things such as marketing and identity verification – on your consent. You can withdraw consent at any time, though some features will stop working if you do.
Who we share it with
- Other members, but only the parts of your profile you have chosen to make visible.
- Venues and organizers, where you book with them – the details needed to honour the booking.
- Service providers who host, secure, and support the platform, process payments, or verify identity, under contracts limiting what they may do with it.
- Law enforcement or regulators, where we are legally required to, or where there is a serious risk to someone’s safety.
- A buyer or successor, if the business is sold or reorganised, on the same terms as this policy.
We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and analytics
Essential cookies keep you signed in and the site working, and cannot be switched off. Optional cookies help us understand how the site is used. You can decline the optional ones and everything will keep working. Your choice is remembered in your browser and you can change it at any time by clearing site data.
What we do not do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not share your exact location with anyone.
- We do not publish your availability calendar.
- We do not use your messages to target advertising.
- We do not make automated decisions about you that have a legal or similarly significant effect.
If you close your account
Closing your account removes your profile from discovery and from other members’ views. Some information stays for a while: records of completed sessions and payments, because the other side has an interest in them too; reports and moderation records, so a closed-and-reopened account cannot be used to escape them; and anything we are legally required to keep. The rest is deleted within [deletion period].
How long we keep it
We keep your account information while your account is open, and for [retention period] after you close it, so that disputes, safety reports and financial records can be resolved. Some records – payment and tax records in particular – are kept for as long as the law requires. Identity documents are kept for [verification retention period] after verification completes.
Your rights
- Ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
- Ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete your information, subject to records we must keep.
- Withdraw consent for anything you consented to.
- Nominate someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you are unable to.
- Complain to us, and then to the relevant supervisory authority if you are not satisfied.
To exercise any of these, write to [privacy contact]. We will respond within [response period].
Security
We use technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit and access controls. No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authority as the law requires.
Where your information is held
Your information is stored in [storage location]. Where it is transferred outside that country, we put appropriate safeguards in place.
Children
Gamigo is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18. If you believe we have, write to [privacy contact] and we will delete it and close the account.
Changes to this policy
We will post any change here and update the date at the top of the page. If a change materially affects you, we will tell you through the platform or by email before it takes effect.
